With its tropical climate, pretty cobblestone streets and historic colonial buildings, Cartagena is one of the jewels in Colombia’s crown. Little wonder, therefore, that the popular port city is also home to the country’s most expensive hotel.
That is according to a new survey by Luxury-Hotels.com, which compared every high-end hotel in Colombia based on their rates for the cheapest double room during September 2019 – the month when hotel rates in most Colombian cities tend to peak.
With a rate of $378 per night for the least expensive room, the survey revealed Casa San Agustin as the priciest hotel anywhere in the country. Located in an authentic colonial building, the boutique hotel offers a number of excellent amenities, including an outdoor pool, a restaurant, and a terrace with a stylish lounge.
Completing the survey podium are a duo of Four Seasons properties, both of which can be found in the city of Bogata: Four Seasons Bogota and Four Seasons Casa Medina Bogota, where average rates come out on level pegging at $344 per night.
The following table shows the 10 most expensive luxury hotels in Colombia. The rates alongside each hotel reflect the price for the cheapest available double room during September 2019.
About the survey
The survey was conducted in August 2019 and compared prices at ever hotel in Colombia with more than 10 rooms. For each hotel, the cheapest available rate for a double room during the month of September was recorded, based on prices given by leading hotel booking websites. Three-night stays were used for comparison, excluding Sunday-Tuesday. Readers should be aware that more affordable rates may be available for stays of four nights or more.
