If you’re looking for a hotel that’s as grand and aesthetic as Berlin itself, the 5-star Regent is hard to beat. Beyond its sparkling marble lobby and chandeliers are soundproofed guest rooms offering cozy luxury. An on-site restaurant promises a rotating lunch menu and regional cuisine alongside vegan, seafood and more classic options. It might be hard to part with the beauty and amenities of this property—did we mention the spa, gym and massages?—but there’s plenty to do nearby, such as shopping on the Friedrichstraße or at popular department store KaDeWe (a train ride away).

Hotel Indigo Berlin - Alexanderplatz

The contemporary, stylish design of the Hotel Indigo should stand out pretty quickly: this boutique property boasts unique decorating in each room (as well as a minibar). Nestled in Mitte, one of Berlin’s centermost (and most popular) neighborhoods, the Hotel Indigo is thus close to many attractions, making it a fine choice in terms of walkability. La Maison de l’Entrecôte, the hotel’s restaurant, serves up regional, seasonal specials —suitable after a day of checking out Alexanderplatz Square and other local landmarks. Thankfully, the former shouldn’t require too much energy —Alexanderplatz is reachable within a two-minute walk.

Located across the street from the Berlin Zoo is the Hotel Palace Berlin. Past guests have waxed generously about the professional, friendly staff. Shopaholics can also find comfort here: not only is KaDeWe nearby, but Bikini Berlin—a younger, hipper alternative to the well-known department store—is within walking distance.
