The most expensive hotels in the world

France has just earned the distinction of having the most expensive hotel in the world. A recent survey from Luxury-Hotels.com came to this conclusion after comparing the rates of luxury hotels around the globe. The average price tag for a standard double room during the peak summer travel period of June through August 2015 served as the basis of comparison.

The La Reserve Paris Hotel & Spa in Ile-de-France took the top spot. An average overnight price tag of $8046 for the least expensive double room easily landed it in the survey’s number one spot. Coming in just behind in the number two spot was Maison Hudson in New York State, United States. This establishment’s average nightly rate of $6506 positioned it in second place.

Rounding out the Top 3 was the Patagonia Camp in Magallanes, Chile, with an average rate of $2280 per night. Italy landed another luxury hotel in the Top 5. Costa Smeralda's Hotel Cala Di Volpe ranked number four on the global survey. An average overnight rate of $2262 for the most affordable double room secured it as the world’s fourth most expensive hotel this summer.

Following are the 10 most expensive hotels in the world. The rates listed are based on the average price for a standard double room for the summer time period spanning June through August 2015.

About the Methodology:
The survey was conducted in May 2015. For all luxury hotels, the lowest available price, on average, a couple will have to spend to stay at the respective resorts was established for the time period spanning June through August 2015. Only such properties having at least 15 rooms located in a single building were considered. The rates were taken from either the respective hotels’ websites or the leading hotel-booking sites. In all cases, the lowest available price was used in tabulating the results.
